If you’re a Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 beginner on PC, PS5, or Xbox, learning the Go Around maneuver and Missed Approach procedure is critical to build confidence in your landings.
This guide explains everything you need to know to initiate and perform a Go Around, placing yourself in the position to try your approach again, instead of risking an unsafe or botched landing.
If you’re unfamiliar with the topic, a Go Around maneuver is performed when the conditions for a safe landing are not achieved for whatever reason, and the pilot decides to abort the landing and try again at a later time, following a missed approach procedure.
If you are on final approach or even after you have touched the ground (as long as you have not activated your reversers and have enough energy left to lift off safely), it’s absolutely recommended to go around if you don’t think you can land and stop safely on the runway.
It’s always better to put yourself in the position of calmly reassessing the situation and trying again, instead of risking a botched landing.
Do keep in mind that this will also generally work on the original Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020.
