Ramjet Studios, the developers of multiplayer zombie survival game Vein, has released update 0.013 for the game.

The studio first talked about update 0.013 last month, as a devlog explained that more frequent and consistent patches would be coming. The update adds in quite a bit of quality-of-life changes, more content, and bug fixes.

Vein now has more customization options, including more hair styles and a roughness slider to make more masculine faces.

The game is getting more realistic as well, spawning in items and food less often as time progresses. Plus, the food that does spawn will be in various stages of spoiling. In a real zombie apocalypse, new food wouldn’t come out of thin air – Vein is keeping that same thought process.

These realistic themes are also affecting the plumbing systems, making it harder to find fresh water as time goes on. Plus, breaking glass without protection will hurt players. Players can even use trash cans now to throw away items they don’t want.

A new area, the Saranac Central School, is in the game. This large building offers plenty of protection and things to do, like play basketball. There are also elevators, an auditorium, and an intercom system, which are three new features. Ramjet Studios also added other areas, but it wants players to find them for themselves.

Players can now see small graphics on things they can interact with, helping them find what they’re looking for more easily. Plus, Vein now has descriptions for some items that are destructible or have similar interactions.

The Medical menu shows all current conditions now, including exactly what each condition is doing as well. There are also new conditions, such as a new Tired and Exerted condition.

Vein is currently free to play on Steam while it’s being developed. When it’s officially released, it will also come to Xbox Series X|S.
