Nintendo fans will be blessed tomorrow, August 27, with a double-feature Nintendo Direct to enjoy: an Indie World Showcase and a Partner Showcase.
The two Showcases will be forty minutes altogether, and fans can watch it live on YouTube. The Direct will be at 7am PT, and it’ll have a variety of titles not developed by Nintendo.
The Indie World Showcase shows off independent games coming to the Nintendo Switch, as the name suggests. In the past, this has included titles like Little Kitty, Big City; Sticky Business; and Another Crab’s Treasure.
Partner Showcases generally feature games created by bigger teams and budgets. Historically, these are titles like Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed; Super Monkey Ball Banana Rumble; Monster Hunter Stories; and Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance.
Occasionally, there are also games coming to the Nintendo Switch Online emulators, too. This is specifically for games that weren’t created by Nintendo, like Rare’s Blast Corps for the Nintendo 64.
Nintendo won’t show off any first-party titles tomorrow. Don’t expect to see anything related to Mario or Pokémon – regular Nintendo Directs are Mario’s home, and Pokémon has its own Pokémon Directs for news.
Nintendo has already warned fans to not expect a Nintendo Switch successor announcement in the Direct. While rumors are flying about the unknown Switch 2, Nintendo has been quick to shut them down.
For those who can’t tune in or want a recap afterward, Simulation Daily will have roundups of the Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase and Indie World.
