Koei Tecmo Announces Higher than Expected Sales and Profits

Today, Koei Tecmo announced its financial results for the first half of the fiscal year 2025, related to the period between April and September.

According to the documents provided by the publisher, sales were 31,268 million Yen (down 11.2% year-on-year), while operating profit was 7,964 million Yen (down 25.2% year-on-year).

That being said, both values were above the previously shared forecast (30 billion yen and 5 billion Yen, respectively) due to higher-than-expected sales of console and PC games released in previous fiscal years and lower outsourcing and advertising costs.

That being said, this was partially offset by a decline in sales for mobile games.

Sales for the Entertainment Business, which focuses on video games, were 28,503 million Yen, while segment profit was 7,747 million Yen, taking the lion’s share of the company’s business, both down compared to the previous fiscal year (32,761 million Yen in sales and 10,371 million Yen in segment profit).

The other businesses KT is engaged in are basically negligible in the grand scheme of things.

With most of the new releases for the company located in the second half of the year, the full-fiscal-year financial forecast remains the same as previously announced, 92,000 million yen in sales (up 10.6% year-on-year) and 31,000 million yen in operating profits (down 3.5% year-on-year).

Koei Tecmo is the first major publisher we track to publish its financial results this quarter, so you can expect plenty more across the upcoming days and weeks.
