SCS Software has released the 1.56 update for Euro Truck Simulator 2, bringing several new features and fixes to make the sim better than ever.
When it comes to new features, there’s a new height blend effect that makes the transition of terrains more realistic. It uses a height map texture to mimic how different textures blend together when they meet.
This creates a bit less of a smooth look. Players can see before and after pictures below:

Euro Truck Simulator 2 1.56 Update also revived the HS-Schoch Tuning Pack. The accessory finishes have been refreshed, including Chrome, Paintable, and Matte. Paintable and Matte finishes can be customized in any color option. There are also new options for roof bars, front light bars, and bottom grilles, adding LED options and even a strobe light option for front light bars.
There are also two new paint jobs being added to the DLC with this update, as well as light bar options for every vehicle that didn’t have one due to the timing of vehicle releases.

The Special Transport DLC is also getting some new cargo vehicles from CZ Loko. Some of these are also being added to the base game, specifically the MUV 75 and EffiShunter 300.
The DLC vehicles include the EffiShunter 1000, which can go on the Berlin to Szczecin route, Kassel to Hamburg route, and Bremen to Travemünde route.

There’s also more coming to the Schmitz Cargobull Trailer Pack DLC. Vehicles like the Schmitz S.CS HCT and the Schmitz S.KO City chassis have been introduced. There are also more lighting options for the vehicles that are included in the DLC.

The following adjustments were also part of the 1.56 Update for Euro Truck Simulator 2:
- Hold/Toggle for Camera Zoom
- DLC Browser with Filters
- New Career Creation UI and Start-Up Flows
- Truck Preference Screen for cutscenes
- Management UI/UX Improvements
