Tokyo Scenery for Microsoft Flight Simulator Getting Big Update With MSFS 2024 Compatibility

Microsoft Flight Simulator Tokyo

SamScene3D released new screenshots of a major update to its Tokyo City Times scenery add-on, which will also add Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 compatibility.

Incidentally, if you’re a Yakuza/Like a Dragon fan, you may find the first screenshot in the gallery above very familiar. It’s the iconic gate to Kabukicho, the former red-light district that serves as the inspiration for Sega’s franchise’s Kamurocho.

The second image is a nice view of the city, including Tokyo Tower and Skytree, with Roppongi’s Mori Tower in the foreground.

The third screenshot shows the skyline of Shinjuku, alongside its massive train station and Yoyogi Park.

The fourth image is the famous Shibuya Scramble Crossing, while the fifth shows the waterfront district of Shinagawa, which is home to many game developers.

Lastly, the sixth image shows the neighboring port city Yokohama, and specifically its modern Minato Mirai 21 district.

Katowice Airport for Microsoft Flight Simulator Gets New Screenshots and Development Update

Drzewiecki Design revealed more work-in-progress screenshots of the upcoming Katowice Airport (EPKT) in Poland.

The post also included the usual brief development update from the developer.

“Another busy week at Katowice, with major new elements added across the airport environment and steady progress on the big centerpiece — the main terminal.

The terminal is still under construction and is now being intensively modeled. This will be one of the most complex parts of the scenery, and it’s taking shape step by step with great attention to architectural detail.

In other areas, Hangar No. 2 has been completed and refined, while new overpasses, underpasses, and railway lines have been delivered and adjusted for accuracy. Three smaller cargo-side buildings have been added, further building up the industrial character of the airport.

The main gate building and a radar installation are now in place, along with freshly modeled fencing and parking layouts near hangars and entry zones. Vehicles have been positioned and exported across the airfield, adding life and activity.

On the ground side, multiple layers have been carefully painted and blended: asphalt, concrete, paving blocks, and realistic dirt and weathering overlays. The approach lighting systems for runways 26 and 08 are now implemented, and terrain/CGL corrections continue, including repainting areas where cars or tracks overlapped default imagery.

With all these elements coming together, Katowice is becoming more recognizable every week — and once the terminal is finished, the entire airport will begin to show its final form.”

Iris Simulations Announces New Aircraft Line for MSFS

Iris Simulations announced that it’s going to launch a new line of aircraft for Microsoft Flight Simulator, “designed to be approachable, vibrant, and fun for everyone.”

The new series will involve the following principles.

  • Exciting, vibrant artwork – bold visuals to capture the thrill of flight.
  • Console-friendly experiences – supporting our often-overlooked Xbox pilots.
  • Value for money – accessible pricing without cutting corners.
  • Faster production times – so you can enjoy new releases sooner.

We also hear that the series will revisit some of the developer’s products from earlier generations.

That being said, Iris also mentioned that over the next year, they’ll also “continue developing its study-level product range.”
