Today, Electronic Arts laced up its skates for another deep dive into its highly realistic hockey franchise, EA Sports NHL 26. This in-depth look at gameplay shows off a slew of new features coming to the solo career mode, Be A Pro, which has completely changed its presentation, storytelling system, and much more.
Based on feedback from previous Be A Pro modes, EA Sports NHL 26 has been redesigned from the ground up for its presentation. Players will now experience a full library of new cutscenes and in-game cinematics, starting from your escapades at the World Juniors all the way to your Retirement ceremony and everything in between.
- World Juniors trophy celebration and flag raising that capture the pride of winning on the international stage, from hoisting the trophy to standing on the blueline as your team’s flag is raised in victory.
- Your NHL Draft moment, bringing all the emotion of finally making it to the league
- Your first time walking into an NHL locker room, seeing your stall for the first time and feeling like you belong
- Tunnel walkouts that bring the goosebump-worthy anticipation of game night to life
- AHL trophy celebration, giving every level of your career its own payoff
- Stanley Cup celebration, followed by a new locker room celebration after the team photo
- Retirement ceremony that gives your final game the send-off it deserves
Chapter-based storytelling is set to play a huge role in how you experience EA Sports NHL 26 Be A Pro, each featuring its own unique challenges, goals, and consequences that reflect the real ups and downs of hockey at each level. These challenges include everything from Rookie season opportunities to playoff pushes and career milestones.
Just like in real life, goals and milestones will have plenty of stakes and consequences to go alongside them. Every performance matters, as EA Sports NHL 26 will keep track of how you play, how you handle the media, how you spend your energy, and how you interact with key figures like your coach, GM, and agent, all resulting in either more playing time or being scratched to the AHL.
Personality in general will play a big role in how your career develops, as you can either go down the influential or confident paths. These will be determined based on how you answer dialogue questions, which in turn leads to being able to unlock different paths of your skill tree that would have previously been locked or introduce challenges with big rewards but plenty of risk.

EA Sports NHL 26 is now available for pre-order on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, releasing on September 25, 2025, with no PC or Nintendo Switch 2 release planned for this year. For more information on this and other EA Sports titles, be sure to check back to Simulation Daily.
