Director Ryosuke Murai-san joined Producer Kei Morimoto-san to give insight into Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster while Murai-san played the game.

The first thing they discussed was how time went by in the game like it does in real life. However, in-game time goes by 12 times faster than in real life (meaning one hour of game time is equal to five minutes IRL). Certain missions will require players to be at locations by a specific time, and an in-game watch helps players keep track of this.

Developers completely redesigned The Willamette Mall. Now, the area should feel like a mall that belongs on the beach. One part of the mall has jellyfish designs and neon lights to blend the game’s vibe with a beach aesthetic.

The stores in the mall are functional, too. Players can change Frank’s clothes, swing at zombies with signs, and throw mascot heads on zombies to lower their fear factor. Any clothes found will appear in Frank’s new closet, including an outfit that matches the original game’s design for him.

A neat feature included is the ability to turn off the UI. However, it’s a setting, so people who like seeing the UI can keep it on permanently. A new durability base will help players know when their weapons are going to break.

Streamers will be particularly happy to know that there’s a new option to turn off the background music and avoid any DMCA complications.

Of course, the graphics are also much better. The original Dead Rising came out in 2006, and graphics have made leaps and bounds in the 18 years since. Capcom also recaptured the facial expressions, immersing the player further than before.

Voice actors read over every line in the game in nine different languages, and there are fourteen text language options.

The digital version of Dead Rising Deluxe Remaster will be released on September 19, 2024, on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Physical copies will be released on November 8, 2024.
