Giants Software has shared a new look at Kinglaig, the upcoming Farming Simulator 25 map that’s part of the upcoming Highlands Fishing expansion pack, which includes some of the new mechanics, like fish farming.
The expansion was first shown off at FarmCon 25, but the presentation was uploaded for everyone to see yesterday. As fans already knew, Kinlaig is the first British map coming to Farming Simulator, and it’s based in Scotland.
The artists actually took a trip to Scotland to get the truest representation of the land for Kinlaig. This, of course, included a ton of pictures that helped them develop Kinlaig after they left.
As for Kinlaig, players can expect true Scottish details like various meadow types and multiple hedge options that work like fences. There are also new seasonal details to make the time going by feel more authentic, along with more detail than ever on buildings.
There will be various production sites, including a stone quarry, a stone mason, an offshore aquaculture, and a fish market.
Junior 3D Artist Kenan Jusic took viewers on a trip around the Kinlaig farm. Players can watch it below, which includes a look at the farm areas, cars, farmland, grazing areas, and more.
There are a few different areas surrounding Kinlaig, including settlements like Portbridge and Famhair. There are several of these nestled around the Scotland mountains, and they’re full of character and detail, from detailed buildings and roads to the NPCs walking around and living life.
There’s also a castle to visit that shows off Scotland architecture. The new building details also help show off the age and history of the area. There’s also a lighthouse and an island around that players can explore.
Players can also see a quick glimpse at the fish farm, a new feature coming with the Highlands Fishing expansion.
As noted, Kinlaig is still being developed, so there’s a chance that some layout changes could happen.
The Highlands Fishing expansion for Farming Simulator 25 is set to release on November 4, 2025, on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. It’s included on the Year One Season Pass for the sim in general, though it can be bought on its own.
