Today, Bitkraft and Brevan Howard Digital announced that they successfully raised $30.5 million in funding to officially form a brand new developer, Distinct Possibility Studios. The studio is made up of veteran MMORPG and Shooter developers John Smedley, Matt Higby, Trammel Isaac, Michael Hunley, and Tammy McDonald and has already announced its first title, an open-world extraction shooter called Reaper Actual.
Reaper Actual is set on the living island of Marova, a nation scarred by civil war and abandoned civilians. Players will become Reapers, fallen Tier-1 operators who now contract with warring factions, carve out territory, and extract coveted resources back to their own upgradable bases.
Player bases will allow you to craft and produce weapons and fortify your position against both NPC factions and other players can raid your base. Reaper Actual also features dynamic narratives, with story arcs merging into the in-game mission system, featuring objectives like capturing an enemy leader or raiding a base.
Reaper Actual will be available on Steam, the Epic Game Store, and reaperactual.com once it’s launched – though no release window has been given, the game has been in development for the last two years. The website version of the game will also allow players to buy and sell items they obtain in the game, like gun skins, new Reaper skins, bases, and rare items they craft via their marketplace.
