SCS Software announced the next rework of existing content for American Truck Simulator, and it focuses on the famous Route 66.
This is pretty different compared to previous reworks that focused on states like California. This one will go beyond state borders, and it’ll focus mostly on Northern Arizona and parts of New Mexico, especially along I-40.
Specifically, key towns, roads, and areas along Route 66 that need a fresh coat of paint because they’re not up to current standards will be remade from the ground up.
Interestingly, the screenshots also show the road along the south rim of the Grand Canyon in Arizona. While it’s not part of the Route 66 proper, it’s a popular detour.

American Truck Simulator is available exclusively for PC, and it’s the sister game to Euro Truck Simulator 2. Update 1.55 has just entered its beta testing phase.
Iowa is likely to be the next DLC to be released, albeit we don’t yet know when. You can check out its fields, the truck stops, the towns, the road network, more settlements, the bridges, an Ethanol plant, the farming industry, the river ports, and the city of Davenport.
We also saw plenty of gameplay showing a route from a feedmill depot near Waterloo to an agricultural facility close to Iowa City.
SCS Software also recently revealed Illinois, of which you can see the truck stops, the city of Marion, and Rockford. Another DLC that we know is coming is Louisiana, and we saw its truck stops, welcome centers, buildings, and some cities.
The latest DLC announced by the developer is South Dakota.
Perhaps the most interesting recent announcement is the Road Trip mode, which will let you drive pickup trucks and other vehicles in the same world that has been reserved for cargo transport until now, including new reasons to drive and explore.
