Today, Anvil Game Studios announced that its multiplayer shooter Holdfast: Nations At War is finally coming to consoles on July 9, 2025.
Holdfast: Nations At War was initially released on Steam back in 2017, transporting players back in time to experience what it was like to be a part of the many different battles that have taken place throughout history. This includes just about every era, featuring battles from the frontlines of WWI, sea battles on warships from the golden age of sailing, and even the coordinated volleys that were on display in the Napoleonic Wars.
In each battle, there are hundreds of other players on the field, each with their own rank and role on the battlefield. In total, the game features a selection of 27 classes to play with, each with its own traits and abilities, like support, horseback, or artillery.
As you progress throughout the ranks, you’ll earn new cosmetic rewards that show off your status. You’ll be able to choose from over 100 unique unlockables, featuring customisable heads, unique backpacks, specialised muskets and melee weaponry, and various gestures and shouts.
Depending on the side you choose for each battle, your gameplay will vary accordingly. Take the King’s shilling or fight for the Emperor in smoke-filled Napoleonic field battles, either way, there’s going to be carnage.
Upon release, Holdfast: Nations At War will already feature full crossplay support, allowing you and your friend the chance to battle it out with over 150+ other players on the battlefield across various platforms. While no price was revealed for the console, the role-playing shooter is currently available on Steam for $19.99.
