Final Fantasy XIV may not be the first game people think about when they talk about Esports, but it does have its own PvP competitions, including the Crystalline Conflict Community Cup North America that just ended yesterday.

The event, which was broadcast officially by Square Enix on Twitch over multiple days, saw the victory of team Dubstep Nation.

The team won in the grand finals against Stoodges with a dominating score of 3 match to 0. The last match ended in just over 3 minutes with 12 kills and 43 assists for Dubstep Nation and 0 kills for Stoodges.

Due to the nature of the game, results like this aren’t completely uncommon. Matches can be very one-sided when the stars align, or can last even 15 minutes with several back-and-forths if a team’s superiority doesn’t start to cause a snowball effect.

Below, you can check out the brackets from the quarter-finals onward, paying homage to all the participating teams.

If you want to watch the finals yourself, the recording is available on demand.

FFXIV Crystalline Conflict Community Cup

If you’re unfamiliar with Crystalline Conflict, it’s the one introduced last among the forms of PvP available in Final Fantasy XIV, and it’s arguably the one with the most potential in terms of eSports. Its championships have been broadcast live during various Fan Festivals in the past.

Final Fantasy XIV is currently available for PC, PS5, PS4, and Xbox Series X|S. The latest expansion, titled “Dawntrail,” was released in early July 2024.

If you’d like to check out some content coming in the next few patches (following the recent release of update 7.2), you can enjoy our recap of the latest Letter from the Producer Live broadcast, including the upcoming Cosmic Exploration coming next week with 7.21 and Occult Crescent coming with 7.25. Both will be major community-focused additions to the MMORPG.

Final Fantasy XIV is one of the pillars of Square Enix’s lineup and does wonders for its otherwise shaky financials, as revealed a couple of months ago.
