Today, Funcom revealed that it would be delaying the launch of its highly anticipated video game adaptation of Frank Herbert’s legendary sci-fi novel Dune: Awakening. Originally set to release on May 20, the survival title will now arrive on PC on June 10, 2025, with the head start launch for those who pre-ordered moving to June 5.
The announcement came earlier today in an official statement released by the developers, citing Closed Beta feedback as to why they’d be pushing the game back one more month. In those three extra weeks, Funcom looks to smooth over the quality and stability of Dune: Awakening so that it can be at a standard they feel comfortable with when it releases in full.
To help achieve this, a large-scale beta will take place next month so that players can get an early look at the game and share feedback. No date is set for this event yet, but more information will be released soon.
Dune: Awakening was originally announced back at Gamescom 2022 as a survival MMO title set on Arrakis, the most dangerous planet in the universe. The game’s goal is to survive the harsh sands of the desert, collect resources, and build your very own Spice empire.
Alongside single-player, the survival title features a multiplayer aspect that allows you and your friends to join a guild. Together, you can swear allegiance to the Atreides or Harkonnen, and work with other players to secure power in the server-wide Landsraad, whose decrees impact every player on the server.
Dune: Awakening is set to release for PC with the base game available for $49.99. Pre-orders are available now on Steam, featuring a variety of editions that each come with their own unique rewards.
