Atrobotanica’s Kickstarter campaign went live, and fans were rewarded with information about the upcoming game and the first gameplay trailer.

The game focuses on prehistoric botany (hence part of the title), exploration, farming, crafting, and even forming relationships with Neanderthal tribes from 300,000 years in the past.

Players will be able to examine and study the Earth’s plants. They’ll be able to apply that research and grow some of it in their own gardens. Additionally, they’ll have to keep them safe from predators.

Crafting is another important part of Astrobotanica. The flora around Earth has a lot to uncover, including its uses in various recipes.

Part of what sets Astrobotanica apart compared to other survival games is the ability to interact and get to know primitive tribes. These relationships and ties can create a trading system.

Of course, to do everything above, players will need to explore around them. There are several different biomes and different wildlife that players have to manage around.

The Kickstarter campaign has several stretch goals that could add more to this. These include mechanics like fishing, swimming, creating an electric grid, and combat. They also discuss adding new biomes and plants to uncover.

Excited fans can watch the gameplay trailer below:

Space Goblin Studio also released several images for players to check out. These are all in-game screenshots:

Arkadiusz Woźniak, Game Director of Astrobotanica, shared his excitement about the Kickstarter launch:

“We’re incredibly excited to launch this Kickstarter and—as promised—bring players into the development process. This crowdfunding campaign is all about sowing seeds of love for survival games, cultivating a potentially interesting project with the support of our community, and ultimately reaping what we hope will become a game everybody wants to play.”

Astrobotanica is being developed for PC (via Steam), and it’s supposed to be released in Winter 2025. Fans can currently wishlist the game on Steam.
