Today Sony Interactive Entertainment and CangMo Game Development presented one of the new games introduced a few days ago for the third phase of the China Hero Project, Codename: Jinyiwei.
The game was presented on PlayStation Shanghai’s stage at Chinajoy 2024 in Shanghai and livestreamed on the company’s Weibo channel.
The demo, which lasts a little over 15 minutes, showcases our hero, a Chinese warrior from the time of the Ming Dynasty, as he explores a city and fights a few enemies until we get to see a boss battle.
Interestingly, we also get to see the progression menu (the game is an action RPG focused on martial arts) and some traversal, which definitely fits the wuxia style.

If you’re unfamiliar with the China Hero Project, it was originally launched in 2016 by the local arm of Sony and publicly announced in 2017 to identify and support outstanding local developers and promote their games on the global market.

This isn’t the first game from the China Hero Project that we see in action at Chinajoy 2024. On Friday, we enjoyed new gameplay of Lost Soul Aside, which was one of the first games that kickstarted the project and is still pending release.
Yesterday, Sony introduced another of the new games from the third phase of the project, Unending Dawn.
