Today, Frontier Developments officially released the next big update for its hit online space flight simulator MMO, Elite Dangerous: Trailblazers.
Elite Dangerous: Trailblazers takes place following the end of the Second Thargoid War, which saw humanity emerge victorious in the final Titan in the Battle of Sol. Now, players are tasked with rebuilding and re-establishing their connection throughout the stars, which will be accomplished via the new System Colonisation beta.
System Colonisation places you at the helm of universal expansion, allowing you to select star systems in order to establish colonies among and build them up. To do so, you’ll need to plan accordingly.
Establishing a colony requires you to overview and contribute to construction efforts and then supply a combination of mined and purchased commodities to ensure completion. Once established, a Primary Starport can be improved and upgraded by continually supplying resources, leading to more facilities that can increase supply, influence the population, improve the standard of living and tech level, and much more.
Alongside the update, a brand new Elite Dangerous Frontier Unlocked livestream also aired earlier today. Starting at the 48-minute mark, the developers recapped the Trailblazers news while also teasing the 2025 roadmap that will feature four new ships, one feature rework, and one brand-new feature to follow its recent 10-year anniversary celebration.

The Gutamaya Corsair stole the spotlight during the showcase, as it features a medium-sized multi-role build that is built to support Supercruise Overcharge (SCO); it is also the first mediumship to support size 7 Thrusters. Players can get their hands on it when it lands into ARX early access in April.

You can check out the full broadcast of the Frontier Unlocked livestream above. Elite Dangerous is currently available for $5.99 as part of a special Steam discount, with the deluxe edition also marked down to $9.99.
