Euro Truck Simulator 2 developer SCS Software is continuing to work on the older parts of the sim’s map to bring them up to speed with current technology and standards.
The next area that will be reworked is Benelux. If you’re unfamiliar with the term, it stands for Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg, as revealed in a recent post.
While the project is still in the very early stages, which means that the pictures in this post are still deeply work-in-progress, we get to see a glimpse of what the three countries will look like after the process is done.
A whopping 10 map designers are working on the project (plus more developers from the Research, QA, Assets, and Programming departments), so it should proceed at a nice clip, and it’s seen as a natural progression after the rework of German cities like Berlin, München, Mannheim, Leipzig, and Dresden implemented in update1.53.
One of the most exciting aspects of the rework is the addition of entirely new cities like Antwerp and Eindhoven on top of “major road network routes like the A2 motorway, a significant portion of the E40 highway, and the scenic N57 road in the Netherlands.”
There will be a variety of reworked depots and new industries, including a sugar beet factory, on top of new landmarks.
You can check out the first screenshots below.

If you’re unfamiliar with Euro Truck Simulator 2, it’s a truck driving simulator available exclusively for PC.
A DLC dedicated to Greece has been recently released and you can take a look at screenshots of the Highways, a massive cement production plant, the Corinth Canal, industries and depots, some natural vistas, big cities, smaller ones on the coast, the hotels, and an extensive gameplay video.
The next regional release is the Nordic Horizons DLC, you can check out its landscapes, landmarks, and the city of Oulu, and the churches. while the nearby (geographically) Scandinavia DLC will get a relevant update to match it.
A few days ago, we also learned more about further plans for the simulator and its sister game American Truck Simulator, on top of the upcoming rigid trucks.
