Today, we received the first official look at the next route for its hit train simulation title, Train Sim World 5, a London Overground Mildmay line: Stratford – Willesden Junction, which is due to arrive next month, March 4, 2025. It will also be the first official add-on from third-party developer Incredible Trains, which is actually the banner used by solo developer Johannes Hartmann.

Hartmann originally got into developing by modding for Transport Fever 2, creating UK rolling stock and asset mods, and eventually moving on to using the PC Editor and learning Unreal Engine. His route will cover 12 miles of the Mildmay Line (previously known to some as the North London Line) between Stratford and Willesden Junction.

This route is known for its use of cross-city connections back in the mid-1800s, helping London businesses avoid the bustling traffic in order to get their cargo on time. It eventually got an upgrade through the 90s and early 2000s, with TfL taking over in 2007 to modernize it as a commuter line with reliable and frequent service.

There are 18 stations in total along the London Overground Mildmay line, which also boasts plenty of notable landmarks, including ArcelorMittal Orbit at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. The gameplay uses high-level platforms placed above those used in West Coast Main Line South and tourist attractions like Hackney Central, Camden Road, and Hampstead Heath.

The trains, coaches, and wagons that are being introduced in Train Sim 5 London Overground Mildmay DLC include:

  • London Overground Class 378 ‘Capitalstar’
  • Southeastern Class 375 in Southeastern High Speed
  • Southern Class 377/2 in West Coast Main Line South
  • Southern Class 377/4 in East Coastway / London Commuter
  • Gatwick Express Class 387 in London Commuter

The Electrostar family of trains features simpler controls and combined power/brake handle, making them perfect for beginners to Train Sim World 5. Veterans can interact with the car’s safety systems, PIS displays via the interactive screen and in the Class 377, speed controls.

The Class 378 ‘Capitalstar’ variant, originally introduced in 2009, delivered in 3-car formations. A fourth car was quickly added, and all were expanded to 5-car trains by 2017.

Outside of the rails, you’ll also notice that road traffic includes London’s iconic black cabs, red double-decker buses, and AI DLR vehicles at Stratford, which operate similarly to the AI trams seen on Edinburgh—Glasgow / Fife Circle route Add-ons. Services will run at eight trains per hour, while Freight traffic and AI utilizing other Add-ons will run on multiple mainlines that intersect and cross over or under the Mildmay line.

Train Sim World 5 London Overground Mildmay line: The Stratford—Willesden Junction route add-on will be available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, and PC (Epic Games Store & Steam) for $29.99. The base game is required.
