Play Together, a popular mobile app that lets friends do exactly as the name says, has made its way to Steam after 4 years of being mobile only.
The game from Haegin is incredibly popular on mobile devices around the world — it has over 200 million downloads. It gives players the chance to play with their friends, whether they’re living life on Kaia Island or competing in minigames. Play Together is its own Metaverse on Steam that players can enjoy that offers a different experience than those like Fortnite or Roblox.
Play Together has plenty of things to do on the island. Players can explore various hobbies like fishing, cooking, mining, pet raising, bug catching, and more. An aquarium and other similar establishments make collecting feel even more worthwhile.
Of course, customization plays a large role as well. Players can create and customize their characters and their homes, which they can then use to have house parties for friends.
Play Together offers cross-platform accounts and cross-play between mobile and PC. In fact, mobile players who link their Steam accounts can get several awards, including 300 Steam Gems, 20,000 Stars, and a “Steampunk” name tag. There’s also a video upload event that encourages players to upload videos from the game on social media.
More events celebrating the Steam launch are planned for the near future.
According to CEO Young-il Lee, this move to PC was largely because of players. Specifically, players wanted an easier way to play while talking together:
“While this latest venture into Steam is certainly about expanding to other platforms, it also stemmed from the request of our players who wanted the ability to communicate with their friends using voice chat… Having been loved by our players on mobile, we’re thrilled to bring the unique fun and excitement that only Play Together can offer to players around the world through Steam.”
