Dreaming Isles, an indie farming-life sim, has been released today on Steam, giving players the chance to live out their mariner-turned-farmer dreams.
The premise of Dreaming Isles is that the player’s a lost mariner who ends up on an abandoned island. The player turns this into a farm, visiting nearby islands to meet people and gather resources.
However, things aren’t as calm and dreamy as the name implies. There’s a war going on between trade vessels and pirates. The protagonist is eager to help, and players can choose a side and help create peace.
Dreaming Isles is a unique take on a farming sim, sending players to the seas to adventure. The Steam page for the game calls it “Zelda-like exploration.”
Naval combat adds to this. Players will need to settle the war while actually fighting on ships. Plus, swords and sorcery will help — both in fights and on the farm.
Between fishing, mini-games, adventures, and romance, there’s a lot in Dreaming Isles to explore. The indie game is the second from developer YawningDad, who released Cartacombs back in 2019.
There’s a roadmap for future updates as well. The game is separated into three chapters, the first of which is the game’s current state. Future updates will bring an end to the story while also adding house customization, children, new cities, new romance options, and new mini-games. For more information on the roadmap, check out the Steam post here.
Dreaming Isles is currently available on Steam for 15% off. The sale will last until January 20, the first week of the game’s release.
