Muv-Luv Tactics: Nightmare of Kalidasa Reveals Story Details
Today the developers of the crowdfunded Muv-Luv strategy JRPG Muv-Luv Tactics: Nightmare of Kalidasa have revealed the first details of the story following the reveal of the protagonist that we saw yesterday.
After the BETA aliens conquered most of Eurasia the 429th Independent Mercenary Unit “Umibato” has been deployed at the border between the kingdom of Thailand and Myanmar at the behest of the COSEAN forces.
Their mission was to launch a flanking attack against the main force of a large BETA group heading south. It was a surprise success.
The unit was recognized for its high combat prowess and success rate, but its blunt tactics were disliked by traditional military forces, so the missions they were assigned were always very relevant but with low chance of survival.
However, commander Chisa Misato and her mercenary were able to approach the main enemy force without disruption and ripped open its flank while also killing the Laser-Class BETA.
The front-line commander criticized their acting independently beyond their duty, but Chisa ignored him and quickly ordered her platoon to leave the battlefield. The operation was already a success and the enemy’s eyes had been turned into corpses, so any hesitation would have resulted in them being caught in the crossfire.
The angry voice of the front-line commander went quiet followed by a torrent of screams and confusion “Damnit! the frontline headquarters! The enemy suddenly…”
Chisa gasped, suspecting an underground attack by the BETA. Yet, on her retina display, new IFF markers started shining like the stars in the sky.
“It’s the American army! The American Army is attacking the frontline headquarters!”
That’s certainly an interesting premise. Perhaps that’s not surprising considering that Muv-Luv creator Kouki Yoshimune is now fully involved in supervising the game’s storytelling and characters.
The game is currently being crowdfunded on Campfire with 30% of 60 million yen currently pledged and 14 days to go. If you want to contribute, you can to do so on the campaign’s official page.
