Today Sega announced that Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles 2 is officially heading to PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Steam, and Nintendo Switch in 2025.
Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles 2 is the sequel to the 2021arena fighting game, which is based on the 2019 anime adaptation of Koyoharu Gotouge’s manga series, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. The first game was hailed as a success, selling over 4 million units worldwide since its release three years ago.
Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles 2 will feature 40 playable characters from the series in various game modes. Those characters include the nine Hashira and every character from the original Hinokami Chronicles, from demons that were added in the free post-launch updates to the Entertainment District Arc characters in the paid DLC.
The story mode will pick up directly from where the first one finished, adapting the Entertainment District Arc, Swordsmith Village Arc, and Hashira Training Arc. Versus Mode also returns, letting you play locally or online against other players to see who is truly worthy of the rank of Hashira.
Similar to the first game, the sequel will likely have some updates, and DLC will be announced upon its release as well, working in tandem with the anime. Instead of a sixth season, the Demon Slayer anime will finish adapting the manga in the form of three movies airing in theaters, though no release date has been set yet.
