Today, Capcom revealed the first look at the upcoming guest character Mai Shiranui, courtesy of SNK.
If you’re unfamiliar with Mai Shiranui, she’s one of the most popular and iconic fighters featured in SNK’s Fatal Fury series. Of course, she is also a regular in The King of Fighters and in several spin-off games by the stored Osaka-based developer.
She will come as a guest character for Street Fighter 6 as part of the year 2 lineup of new content following M. Bison and Terry Bogard, who also comes from Fatal Fury. The lineup will also include another Street Fighter-native character, Elena, coming in the spring of 2025.
For the moment, her release date has not been announced, besides “early 2025.”
You can check out what she looks like in Street Fighter 6 in the trailer below, including her English voice-over. If you’d rather listen to her Japanese voice, you can find the Japanese trailer on the official YouTube channel.
Interestingly, her character design is pretty much the classic one that has accompanied her for most of her career.
Street Fighter 6 is currently available for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. An arcade version is also available in Japan.
Incidentally, the crossover won’t just go one way. Back in September at Tokyo Game Show, we learned that Ken and Chun-Li from the Street Fighter Series will appear in SNK’s upcoming fighting game Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves.
After all, the best collaborations are those that benefit both fanbases.
