Today SCS Software officially released the latest update for American Truck Simulator, numbered 1.53.
The update has been in open beta for a while, so expert truckers may already have tested most of it. It’s also similar to the equally numbered one for the sister game Euro Truck Simulator 2, which was released a few days ago, albeit each has its own specific features.
The first big change is phase 4 of the California rework including Santa Maria, Oxnard, Mojave, Barstow, Indio, Blythe, Los Angeles, San Diego, and El Centro.
The dynamic cargo loading and unloading feature has been expanded by making it available when using a logger across the whole of the US.
The fifth-generation Freightliner Cascadia has been added to the driving academy, and the same quality-of-life improvements as ETS2 have been added, namely clearly marked options that have been set to non-default values and smooth and auto camera centring.
Those who have the Special Transport DLC can enjoy a new route in California between LA and San Diego, while the speed limit has been raised to 55 mph.
Fully functioning sliding tandems have been added, letting you freely slide the axles to optimize your weight distribution while using select trailers. That being said, this has been done realistically, so don’t set the trailer’s rear axle further than 40 feet from the kingpin, or you may be fined.
Below you can enjoy a trailer of the update.
We also have plenty of screenshots and the full patch notes.
