Norland is changing things up with Patch 27, overhauling how diplomacy works and introducing balance changes to help things in the mid-to-late game. Plus, it implemented a ton of bug fixes, too.
Bandits can now be bribed to attack nearby regions. While players can use these every two turns to attack their enemies, AI in other regions can also use this to attack the player. Bandit Camps can also grow. Once there are eight bandits, there’s a chance for them to have light armor. Plus, for every ten bandits in the camp, a new watchtower is added.
Peace treaties have been reworked. Now, the one proposing the peace treaty has to pay a set amount depending on their relationship level with the other faction.
However, instead of needing money when Offering to the King, players now offer resources that the king wants. This is based on the culture of the faction. Additionally, Lords want rings now. When accepting a lord, players will have to give them a certain amount of rings. This is based on the lord’s skills and the persuasion skill of both you and the lord.
Several balance changes were made to help how Norland feels from the mid-to-late game. Some of the big ones include:
- Holy Caravan price adjustment provides a 1.5x multiplier instead of 2x
- Asking for donations has harsher punishments, reducing loyalty by 30, a 25% negative thought, and lasts for 12 days compared to 4
- Hardcore difficulty has had adjustments to the Hunted Together thought effect and the caravaner’s trading skills
- Bandits Spirit of Freedom thought is now -18 and never goes away
- Slaves who were bandits receive a price penalty
- AI cities only get towers once they have 40 residents
- Players can only Punish Hated Culture once compared to three times
- Heir rebellions start quicker
- Writing and rewriting books requires paper based on your knowledge level
Additionally, several improvements were made to the UI. For example, the Dynasty Menu, Minstrel Icons, and Army Menu are all more clear. Plus, Pilgrims have been reworked to look better.
