Today, developer and publisher Sabotage Studios have officially completed their vision for their most recent RPG with the release of their brand new free update, Sea of Stars: Dawn of Equinox.
According to the developers, Sea of Stars: Dawn of Equinox is set to bring all of the elements they wanted to include at launch, alongside some requested features and quality-of-life changes they’ve received feedback on from fans. The first of those changes is a big one: local co-op.
As of the update, up to three players will now be able to traverse the world together, even having the ability to pull off timed co-op attacks with one another. Combat in general is getting a rework thanks to the new 2.0 system.
Combat 2.0’s Mystery Locks adds an exciting new gameplay loop, giving players a way to break the spells of enemies each time a new type is encountered in battle. Reveal functions have also been added to some of the playable cast’s special skills and Combo Points now remain after battle, resulting in new approaches to encounters.
Some other changes coming in the Sea of Stars: Dawn of Equinox update include:
- A Revamped Prologue
- Bonus Cinematic Scene
- A Speedrunner Mode Relic
- Difficulty Presets
- Improved Parrot Relic
- Quebecois Localization
- A bunch of Quality of Life Improvements
Sea of Stars was originally released on on August 23, 2023, as the prequel to Sabotage Studios’ other hit title, The Messenger. It follows two heroes named Valere and Zale, who use the power of the moon and sun, respectively, to fight against the creations of an evil alchemist.
As of March 2024, the game has been played by more than 5 million people, thanks in part to favorable reviews and launching simultaneously on Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation Plus (Extra tier). Sea of Stars is available now for PC, Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
