HoYoverse has released a ton of information surrounding Genshin Impact Version 5.2, showing off new playable characters, more tribes in Natlan, upcoming monsters, and new Saurians. Plus, a trailer for the version shows everything off in typical Genshin fashion.
Genshin Impact Version 5.2 will be released on November 20. The update will feature two new characters, Chasca and Ororon. While players have seen these characters around the marketing for Natlan, this is the first look at their abilities.
Chasca is a five-star Anemo bow user. She’s from the Flower-Feather Clan (more on that later), where she was brought up after she was corrupted by Abyssal power. While she’s an Anemo user, both her Elemental Skill and Elemental Burst can do Pyro, Hydro, Cryo, or Electro damage if characters of those Visions are on her team.
She can also travel in the air by jumping on her gun. While she’s up there, she can dash, jump, dive down, and attack enemies below her. She’ll be available during Phase One of Version 5.2, along with Lyney.
Ororon is a four-star Electro bow user who’s from the Masters of the Night-Wind tribe. He can leap incredibly high, and his glide speed is faster when exploring. While Ororon gets special abilities when charging a shot, he shines as an off-field Electro DPS. He can gain Nightsoul Points while others are on the field, and he can enter Nightsoul’s Blessing off the field as well, dealing Electro damage. He also has a promising taunt.
Both Chasca and Ororon are from the new tribes being introduced in Version 5.2. The Flower-Feather Clan lives high in Natlan’s mountains. They’re known for being strong warriors, and the buildings are held by hot air balloons in the sky.
The Masters of the Night-Wind tribe is mysterious, and its elders and shamans can talk to spirits. There are also witch doctors who can help cleanse people’s spirits. The tribe is beautiful, glowing at night.
Along with the new tribes is a new area, Ochkanatlan. This is an ancient city that’s been corrupted by the Abyss. Nothing lives there – except for monsters, of course – and players can explore it as the new Saurians to discover its secrets. It’s part of the World Quest coming with Version 5.2, and players will get a new companion named Cocouik to help get rid of the Abyss contamination.
Additionally, there’s a rampaging dragon in this area that will eventually reveal the history of Ochkanatlan and the differences in relationships between dragons and humans over the years.
The new Saurians will be particularly helpful for exploring Ochkanatlan. Qucusaurs can take long flights, using Phlogiston to fly higher and barrel roll in the air. Iktomisaurs are pros at jumping, and they can see hidden objects. While in the Spiritspeaker state, they can use Phlogiston to create graffiti or Phlogiston Engravings.
Speaking of Phlogiston, there’s a new form of the Natlan resource coming with Version 5.2. Gaseous Phlogiston Lumps are used by the Flower-Feather Clan and Qucusaurs to have a full Phlogiston state without depleting. This means longer and easier travel and combat.
Plus, when Gaseous Phlogiston Lumps meet rocks, a one-way tunnel called a Phlogiston Wind Tunnel is created. Only Qucusaurs and Flower-Feather Clan warriors can use them.
Two new enemies are also coming with Version 5.2. Tenebrous Mimiflora is a regular monster that can mimic other monsters. It can create a Void Ward, and it can cause the active characters to lose HP based on a stackable Attrition.
The new boss, Tenebrous Papilla, is similar. It can change its form into other bosses, taking inspiration from the memories of Natlan’s contaminated Ley Lines. Nightsoul-aligned Elemental attacks are vital to taking it down.
Of course, there will be a few optimizations coming with Version 5.2. Artifact Auto-Lock is finally coming to the game. This lets players choose what sort of artifacts the game can automatically lock and not consume. Additionally, players can mark artifacts. This locks the artifacts and puts them in a priority display when looking at artifacts.
The Imaginarium Theater is also getting a few quality-of-life updates, like a Next Act button, Supporting Cast records, new performance prep tags, recommended role icons, stats, and enemy markers. The Serenitea Pot will also start selling wood, and the Seed Dispensary will hold more seeds. Plus, the Boon of the Elder Tree will have a shorter cooldown.
