Today SCS Software released the open beta of the next update for its popular sim Euro Truck Simulator 2.
The update is numbered 1.53 and the beta can be selected directly in the Steam client.
One of the biggest features is the rework of several German cities including München, Mannheim, Leipzig, Dresden, and Berlin. Each of them has been completely overhauled including the surrounding areas, road networks, available industry, and landmarks.
Another rework comes from one of the game’s trucks, the Volvo FH Series 4. The overhaul includes the cabin, interior, chassis, and tuning pack. That being said, this is still a work-in-progress and the plan is for it to be finished by the end of the open beta.
Quality-of-life improvements include an indication of whether an option has been changed from its default value in the game’s settings. We also get smooth and auto camera centering.

Euro Truck Simulator 2 is available exclusively for PC. It has recently been updated to version 1.51, with the addition of quite a few features. It also just eceived a spiffy Driving Academy feature.
The game is also soon getting a new DLC focusing on Greece, of which we have seen a massive Cement Plant, the Corinth Canal, and the industries. At the moment, no release date for the DLC has been announced.
A few weeks ago, the game was in attendance at IAA Transportation 2024 in Hannover, once more showcasing the inevitable ties between simulation and real-world transportation and logistics.
