War Thunder Introduces Next Major Update, Firebirds, in New Teaser Trailer

The next major update for War Thunder, Firebirds, was just announced by developer Gaijin Entertainment via a teaser trailer. While it didn’t feature too much information in particular, there’s plenty of information hidden throughout for eagle-eyed fans:

A list of potential new vehicles from the update, as well as the full trailer, can be seen down below in order of when they appear (courtesy of @SlavaUkraini145):

  • F-15E
  • Su-34
  • SPZ Luchs
  • F-15E
  • T77E1 reflection in puddle
  • F-15E
  • MIM-104 Patriot
  • Super Hind
  • KV-7
  • F-117 Nighthawk

Alongside these vehicles, there were a number of unique effects and features shown off. Specifically, you can see new afterburner effects, high G pulls, and a GBU-39 Small Diameter Bomb being dropped by an F-15E.

War Thunder was originally released in open beta in 2012 and finally released in full four years later, in 2016. Since then, the free-to-play vehicular combat multiplayer title has amassed a considerable following. It even became one of the most-played games on Steam in 2019, boasting 25,000 concurrent players. Its current record for concurrent players is over 250,000.

War Thunder has had a pretty productive 2024 so far. Last month, they released their Dance of Dragons update, featuring over 40 vehicles and aircraft, updated locations and missions, and several quality-of-life changes. A roadmap of “in progress” changes was also teased, though they didn’t mention anything about the Firebirds update, including what it entails and when it will be released.

For now, we will just have to keep an eye on the sky for any specific updates on War Thunder Firebirds as they release. The game is currently available for free on Microsoft Windows, macOS, Linux, PS4, Xbox One, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Oculus, and Vive.
