While it may have taken 15 years to get a sequel to the Budakai Tenkaichi series, it didn’t take long at all for Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero to absolutely blast its sales into space. Today, Bandai Namco Entertainment revealed that the long-awaited Spike Chunsoft developed fighting title has already sold over 3 million units worldwide in just 24 hours.
Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero launched on October 11, 2024 and is available now on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam). The title lets fans relive the stories and events of the anime and manga, all the way from the original Saiyan saga to the Buu saga and beyond.
In the press release revealing the sales information, Bandai Namco attributes a considerable part of the success of the game to its massive roster of 182 playable characters, ranging from lesser known and non-canon villains and heroes from the movies. That includes characters like Cooler, Android 13 (Trucker hat and all), and Garlic Jr.
Using the Unreal Engine 5, Dragon Ball: Sparking! boasts even more modernized, fluid combat than the original installments in the series and sees the return of destructible environments, featuring even more locations to explore and destroy in each arena. There are also multiplayer modes, including online and split-screen vs. battles and even a World Tournament mode, allowing players to fight each other in various iconic and original scenarios.
