It is go big or go home for Pokémon Go fans. Today, Niantic showed off the official trailer for their Gigantamax Pokemon update for their hit mobile title, which will enhance existing Dynamax capabilities and introduce new gameplay features surrounding the form.
In the update, players will be able to encounter Gigantamax versions of fan favorite Pokémon, including Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise in limited-time battles. These events also allow you to team up with other Trainers, introducing a new layer of strategy to battles unlike anything else in the game so far.
You can check out the trailer for the Gigantamax update below, scored by Emmy-Award winning composer Ramin Djawadi, best know for their work on Game of Thrones.
If this update sounds vaguely familiar, it is because Pokémon Go introduced a similar change to the game back on September 10, 2024. In that update, Dynamax Pokémon and Max Battles were added to the free-to-play mobile title while also introducing Power Spots, Max Particles, and Max Moves.
The Pokémon company also made a move last month to sue Pocketpair for patent infringement. Palworld released back on January 19, 2024 and found immediate success, but also raised questions due to how similar their gameplay and character models were to the beloved Nintendo brand. At the moment, they are still going forward with the lawsuit.
